V. Satish Kumar Takes Additional Charge as IOCL Chairman
V. Satish Kumar, the director (marketing) of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), has assumed additional charge as the chairman, following the completion of Shrikant Madhav Vaidya’s tenure. Kumar, who has been with IOCL for 35 years, has held key positions across various regions and led significant initiatives in the company’s marketing division.
His tenure has seen IOCL achieve strong physical performance, modernize its retail outlets, and lead in the sales of high-octane fuels and clean energy solutions. Kumar also has experience engaging with multinational oil companies, serving as the non-executive chairman of Indian Oil Petronas Pvt. Ltd. and Indian Oil Mauritius Ltd.
Since October 2021, Kumar has served as director (marketing) and held additional charge as director (finance) during a challenging period marked by geopolitical tensions due to the Ukraine war. Under his leadership, the marketing division has undertaken large-scale modernization projects, including new retail visual identities, bottling plants, and highways retail outlets.
Kumar has been instrumental in advancing IOCL’s position in clean energy solutions, making strides in e-mobility and biofuel blends. His efforts have made IOCL a leader in offering energy-efficient fuels, lubricants, and innovative packaging solutions.
A mechanical engineer by training, Kumar holds a postgraduate degree in management from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Before his role as director (marketing), he was the state head for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, where he played a key role in implementing the direct benefit transfer for LPG consumers under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
