Vishvajit Sahay Takes Charge as Defence Finance Secretary on May 1, 2026
Mr. Vishvajit Sahay has assumed the charge as the Secretary (Defense Finance) in the Ministry of Defense. He will play the significant role to strengthen the India’s defense financial governance and strategic decision-making framework. Earlier he also served as the Controller General of Defense Accounts (CGDA) in the same ministry.
Vishvajit Sahay is a 1990 batch officer of the Indian Defense Accounts Service (IDAS). He had more than 30 years of experience in the public administration and defense finance.
He is also an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College and he also holds a degree in law. This educational background reflecting a strong academic foundation which combined with administrative expertise.
Throughout his long career he has held several important roles across the various ministries and departments.
