West Bengal Assembly Joins NeVA, Becoming 33rd Legislature to Adopt Digital Governance

The West Bengal Legislative Assembly has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA). After this signing the state of West Bengal becomes the 33rd Legislature in the India to join the NeVA initiative. This project aims to transform the legislative functioning via a common digital platform with promoting the transparency, efficiency, accessibility and the paperless governance in line with the vision of the Digital India.

West Bengal Legislative Assembly Signs MoU for NeVA

A single tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 4th of June 2026 for the implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

This agreement was signed in the presence of Respectable Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Respectable Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal, Respectable Minister of State L. Murugan and the Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

The ceremony marked another significant milestone in the India’s journey towards the fully digital legislative governance.

West Bengal Becomes the 33rd Legislature to Join NeVA

After the signing of the MoU, the West Bengal Legislative Assembly became the 33rd Legislature in the country to adopt the digital NeVA platform.

The achievement brings India also closer to the vision of the “One Nation – One Application”

This initiative aims to create the unified digital ecosystem for legislative institutions across India. According to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, total 21 Legislatures have already transitioned to fully digital functioning through the NeVA platform.

What is the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA)?

The National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) is a Mission Mode Project which was launched by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

It seeks to digitize and modernize the functioning of the Parliament and the State Legislatures via a common digital platform.

Key Objective

To establish the paperless, transparent, efficient and citizen-centric legislative governance across India.

This project supports the broader goals of the Digital India Mission by leveraging the technology to improve legislative processes.
