What Is the Telangana–Deakin University AI MoU? Key Details Explained
To strengthen the India’s artificial intelligence ecosystem the Deakin University and the Government of Telangana have signed the strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Hyderabad in the April 2026. This agreement focused on to the advancing applied artificial intelligence (AI) via the collaborative research, innovation and skill development initiatives. The MoU was signed at the Telangana State Secretariat between the Professor Iain Martin and Phani Nagarjuna who is representor of the Telangana’ AI innovation hub which is Aikam.
Main feature of this collaboration is the establishment of the Aikam-Deakin Hub for the Research in Intelligent Technology & Innovation (Aikam-DHRITI).
It is designed to serve as the center of excellence for AI research and innovation and combining the global academic expertise with local technological infrastructure.
The initiative aims to promote the translational research it means to converting the academic findings into real-world applications.
By leveraging the Deakin University’s strong research capabilities and states advanced digital infrastructure hub will focus on to the developing practical AI solutions which can be implemented across sectors.
One of the core objectives of this partnership is the mass upskilling to build the AI-ready workforce.
As the AI rapidly transforming industries there is a strategic urgent need for the professional who understand and can work with intelligent systems.
The partnership will focus on the several training programs to create an AI-fluent workforce and create the industry-relevant skill development initiatives.

The MoU also states that the startup kickoff which aims to support the emerging businesses in the AI sector.
By providing the access to the research, mentorship and infrastructure this initiative will help the startups to develop and scale innovative AI solutions.
It is also to strengthen Telangana’s position as a technology and startup hub and it will be attracting investments.
