India is a land of countless spiritual and cultural centers. Many towns and districts across the country are compared to famous holy cities because of their temples, rivers, and traditions. Just like Varanasi, known as Kashi, there is a district in the Himalayan region that has earned a similar title. It is often called the “Kashi of Hills” for its religious importance and breathtaking natural setting.
The district known as the Kashi of Hills is Mandi, located in Himachal Pradesh. It is called this because the town has more than 80 temples of Lord Shiva, similar to the holy city of Varanasi, also known as Kashi. Situated on the banks of the Beas River, Mandi has many ghats and a spiritual atmosphere, which gives it the title of “Chhoti Kashi” or Kashi of Hills.
Both cities share a similar charm, offering a deep spiritual and cultural experience to visitors.
