Shravasti was an important place for Buddhism, Gautam Buddha spent 24 rainy season here, teaching his followers. The Jetavana monastery, located in Sahet, was one of the most famous Buddhist monasteries of ancient times. Many stupas and inscriptions related to Buddhism have been found in this region.
