Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh is often called the “City of Lakes” because it has many big lakes that stay full all year. These lakes are useful for farming, provide a home for various animals and birds, and bring many visitors to the area. Important Lakes in Unnao

  • Kundra Samundar: This is one of the biggest lakes in Unnao, located near Jhalotar. It is an important water source in the region.
  • Nawabganj Lake: This lake is near Nawabganj and is now part of the Shahid Chandra Shekhar Azad Bird Sanctuary. Many migratory birds visit this lake.
  • Kantha Lake: A large and wide lake near Kantha village. It plays a key role in the local ecosystem.
  • Basaha Lake Chain: A group of lakes located in Mauranwan pargana. The Basaha Lake in this chain is particularly important.
  • Other Significant Lakes: There are also lakes in Bhadain, Unchagaon, Qila, Akhori, Miri, Zorawarganj and Sarwan, which contribute to the natural beauty of Unnao.
