Which Indian State has the Highest Number of Cyber Crimes in India?

Did you know that cyber crime is growing faster than many traditional crimes in today’s digital world? As more people use smartphones, online banking, and social media, the risk of cyber fraud, hacking, and identity theft is also increasing.

In India, the rapid rise of internet users has made life easier, but it has also opened doors for cyber criminals. From phishing scams to online financial fraud, many people face such threats every day.

Different states in India report varying numbers of cyber crime cases. Factors like population size, internet usage, digital awareness, and urbanisation play a big role in these differences.

Some states have better reporting systems, which means more cases get officially recorded. On the other hand, in some areas, cyber crimes may go unreported due to lack of awareness or fear.

Understanding which state reports the highest number of cyber crimes can help us learn about digital safety and the importance of staying alert while using the internet.

What is Cyber Crime?

Cyber crime refers to any illegal activity that involves a computer, mobile phone, or internet connection. In such crimes, digital devices can either be used as tools to commit the crime or be the target themselves.

These crimes are growing because more people are using smartphones, online payments, and social media platforms every day. As technology improves, criminals also find new ways to exploit it.

  • Cyber Stalking and Bullying: This involves online harassment, threats, or continuous unwanted messages targeting a person.
  • Identity Theft: In this case, someone steals your personal information like Aadhaar number, bank details, or passwords to misuse it.
  • Sextortion: Criminals use private photos or videos (real or fake) to blackmail victims and demand money.
