Which Indian State is Known as the Land of Coconut?

India is a land full of different states, each with its own special things. Some states are known for their food, some for their culture ad some for their rich nature. Among these, there is a state that stands out because it grows a large number of coconut trees. Coconut is an important part of their life, food and traditions. An Overview of India

Land of Coconut in India

Kerala is usually called the ”Land of Coconut” in India because coconuts are a big part of its culture and lifestyle. But now Karnataka has become the largest coconut-producing state in the country. It grows more coconuts than Kerala these days. So, while Kerala is well known for coconuts, Karnataka produces the highest number of coconuts in India now.

Recently, Karnataka has become the largest coconut-producing state in India. It produced about 726 crore coconuts in 2023-24. Karnataka grows more coconuts than any other state now, and Tumakuru is a top district for coconut production. The state produces 28.5% of all coconuts in the country.

Other Coconut Producing States in India

Besides Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, there are many other states that grow coconuts. Some of them are Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Gujarat, Maharashtra and the island territories of Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar. These places also produce a large number of coconuts and help meet the country’s coconut needs.
