Mountains are some of the most beautiful natural features on Earth. They take millions of years to form and come in many shapes and sizes. Some mountains are famous not just for their height but also for their special names. One such mountain is known as the “Yellow Mountain,” which is admired for its beauty and rich history.
The mountain known as the Yellow Mountain is Mount Huangshan. It is located in eastern China, in Anhui Province. Huangshan is one of the most famous mountains in the country and is often called the “Most Beautiful Mountain of China.”
The name “Huangshan” does not come from the mountain’s colour. Instead, it is named after the legendary Yellow Europe, also known as Huang Di.
Long ago, people believed that the Yellow Emperor came to this mountain to find the secret of immorality. In the year 747 AD, a ruler of China renamed the mountain to honour him.
Mount Huangshan is famous for its stunning natural features. The mountain is made mostly of granite rocks, and its tall peaks look very sharp and dramatic. One of its most amazing sights is the “Sea of Clouds,” where thick clouds surround the peaks, making them look like islands floating in the sky.
Another interesting feature of Huangshan is its pine tree. These trees grow directly out of cracks in the rocks. They survive by breaking down the stone slowly to reach water and nutrients. This makes them look very unique and strong.
The mountain has its own kind of weather. Fog and clouds are seen here for more than 200 days in a year. During sunrise and sunset, the clouds reflect golden light, which sometimes makes the mountain look yellow – adding to its magical charm.
Huangshan was formed millions of years ago due to natural forces like tectonic movements and glaciers. The mountain also has hot springs with warm water throughout the year. As you climb higher, you can see different types of plants, from green forests to alpine grasslands.
