The Malwa Plateau is located between the Aravalli Hills on the western side and the Vindhya Range in the south. It spreads across parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. This plateau was formed by volcanic activity and has rich black soil, which is very suitable for farming. The region has an average height of about 500 metres and gently slopes towards the northern plains, helping rivers flow in that direction.
