Which State is the Highest Producer of Pear?

India is a country where many different types of fruits are grown because of its varied climate and soil. One such fruit is the pear, which is loved for its sweet taste and juicy texture. Jammu and Kashmir is the largest producer of pears in India, growing around 88,000 metric tons every year. Its cool weather and rich soil create perfect conditions for pear farming. Along with fruits, the region has also begun pearl farming for the first time in Chillyari village of Samba district. This new initiative is changing a once-troubled area into a peaceful and productive place.

Why is Jammu and Kashmir Produces the Most Pears?

Jammu and Kashmir have special weather conditions. Pears grow best in places that are not too hot. This state has:

These areas have many orchards (fruit gardens) where farmers grow pears along with apples and cherries.

In Jammu and Kashmir, different varieties of pears are grown, such as:

  • Patharnakh
  • Barlett
  • Le Conte
  • Baggugosha

These pears are sold in Indian markets and also sent to other countries.
