Who Are the Winners of Tamil Nadu State Film Awards 2016-2022?

After years of anticipation, the Government of Tamil Nadu has finally unveiled the State Film Awards for 2016 to 2022, recognising one of the most socially conscious and artistically rich phases of Tamil cinema.   • Gargi (2022), led by Sai Pallavi, won Best Film (First Prize), with Sai Pallavi also taking Best Actress for her restrained and powerful performance.

Awards Ceremony Details

  • The official awards ceremony will be held on 13 February 2026 at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai, where the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu will personally present the honors to the winners.
  • Instituted by the Tamil Nadu government, the State Film Awards are among the oldest and most prestigious state-level cinema honours in India, recognising artistic merit, technical excellence and socially meaningful storytelling in Tamil cinema.
