Chapchar Kut which is the major spring festival of Mizoram and it was celebrated with joy. The festival was held in March the festival marks the completion of jhum cultivation activities and also the arrival of spring. The most iconic feature of it is the Cheraw bamboo dance.
It is one of the oldest and most popular dances form of Mizoram.
Generally men rhythmically tap bamboo sticks while women gracefully step in and out and it synchronizing their movements with the beats.
The dance requires precision and coordination as it must avoid getting their feet caught between the moving bamboo poles.
It is also celebrated with a wide range of cultural activities that highlight the artistic and social life of the Mizo community.
People dress in traditional attire and colorful headgear and jewelry and adding vibrancy to the celebrations.
Also includes the traditional music using instruments like drums, cymbals and gongs along with group dances and performances.
