India has undoubtedly been the most successful team in the tournament history having won a total of eight Women’s Asia Cup crowns. India has won the trophy in the years 2004, 2005-06, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2022 and 2026.
Sri Lanka has clinched its maiden Women’s Asia Cup crown in the year 2024 whereas Bangladesh lifted the trophy in the year 2018.

The event made its debut in 2004 as an ODI event. Its initial four tournaments that were held in 2004, 2005-06, 2006, and 2008, were conducted under the ODI format.
Starting from 2012, the event switched to the T20I format, which has been maintained ever since.
