Zelenskyy and Estonia’s New PM Discuss Ongoing Support
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with Estonia’s newly elected Prime Minister Kristen Michal on his first day in office, July 22. The discussion centered on Estonia’s ongoing military support for Ukraine and future cooperation.
Zelenskyy thanked Michal for Estonia’s long-term and strategic military support, praising it as an exemplary model for other partners. Michal assured Zelenskyy of continued support for Ukraine’s path to the European Union and NATO.
The leaders discussed enhancing cooperation, particularly between Ukraine and Estonia’s defense firms, and agreed to arrange a meeting soon.
The new Estonian government, led by Michal, officially took office on July 23. The cabinet retained eight ministers from the previous government, including Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur and Foreign Minister Margus Tsakhkna, both of whom are pivotal for Ukraine.
Michal committed to supporting Ukraine until it prevails over Russia, maintaining Estonia’s strong stance on the conflict.
The transition to Michal’s government marks a continuation of Estonia’s robust support for Ukraine, reflecting a stable and strategic partnership between the two nations.
