111-Year-Old John Alfred Tinniswood Becomes World’s New Oldest Man

Guinness World Records (GWR) has shared a video of the world’s oldest living man, 111-year-old John Alfred Tinniswood, from England. In the video, Tinniswood reveals what he believes is the secret to his exceptional longevity and also offers a piece of advice for others.

A Remarkable Life Span

Tinniswood was born in 1912 in Merseyside, northern England, and has lived through two world wars. He has had a varied career, working as both an accountant and a postal service worker before retiring. Guinness World Records and the Gerontology Research Group have thoroughly assessed and confirmed Tinniswood’s claim to the title of the world’s oldest man.

Secrets to Longevity

When asked about the secret to his longevity, Tinniswood provided a “somewhat measured view.” However, some clues about the potential factors behind his remarkable lifespan can be gleaned from the details of his life. For instance, Tinniswood was married to his wife Blodwen for 44 years before she passed away, suggesting that a fulfilling and supportive family life may have played a role in his longevity. Additionally, Tinniswood has a daughter, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, further indicating the importance of close familial relationships in his life.

Advice for Others

In the GWR video, Tinniswood not only shares his own perspective on the secret to his longevity but also offers a piece of advice for others. He encourages people to maintain a positive outlook on life, suggesting that a positive mindset and attitude may have been another contributing factor to his exceptional lifespan.

Comparison to Other Supercentenarians

While Tinniswood’s achievement is undoubtedly impressive, it is worth noting that he is not the oldest person ever recorded. The oldest man ever was Jiroemon Kimura of Japan, who lived to the age of 116 years and 54 days. The oldest living person overall is Maria Branyas Morera of Spain, who is currently 117 years old and the oldest living woman.
