8th India Water Week (IWW) 2024 Overview

The 8th India Water Week (IWW) will be inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu on 17th September 2024 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. This four-day international water resources event, conceptualized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, focuses on the theme “Partnerships and Cooperation for Inclusive Water Development and Management.” IWW serves as a platform for global experts, decision-makers, and stakeholders to deliberate on innovative approaches to water management.

History and Themes

IWW was first organized in 2012 and has since been held biannually, with themes focusing on crucial water challenges. Previous editions have addressed issues like water management for sustainable development and water security for inclusive growth.

Event Highlights

Inaugural Session & Ministerial Plenary: Government leaders will present their vision for water management.

Global Water Leaders’ Plenary: Insights from international water experts.

Water Leaders’ Forum: Discussions covering all major water-related sectors with participation from public, private, and non-government sectors.

Country Forum: Sessions featuring contributions from countries like Denmark, Israel, and Singapore.

Practitioners’ Forum: Experiences from experts implementing water programs and initiatives.

Exhibition: A 4,800 square meter space featuring cutting-edge water technologies from countries like the USA, UK, Australia, and African nations.

Startup Forum: A platform for startups to pitch innovative ideas in the water sector.

Water Convention: Academic papers will be presented on various water-related themes.

Valedictory Session: Reflection on key outcomes of IWW 2024.

International WASH Conference

In parallel with IWW, the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation will host the International WASH Conference, focusing on global discussions on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH).

Organizing Partners

Key organizing partners include the Ministry of Jal Shakti, associated ministries, and international organizations such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID), and the World Water Council (WWC). These partners bring expertise to the event to shape discussions on global water issues.
