Aadhaar Face Authentication Hits Record 19.36 Crore Transactions in July 2025
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced a historic record for Aadhaar face authentication technology, which logged 19.36 crore transactions in July 2025. This is a significant leap from 5.77 crore transactions during the same month last year, reflecting rapid adoption across both public and private sectors for availing and delivering services.
Currently, over 150 entities—including government departments, banks, telecom operators, and oil marketing companies—are using Aadhaar’s AI-driven face authentication to enable secure, contactless service delivery. The technology is supported on both Android and iOS platforms, ensuring broad accessibility.
A major driver of adoption has been its integration into the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), enabling beneficiaries to receive social security benefits without physical contact.
Since July, 13.66 lakh NSAP beneficiaries have authenticated using Aadhaar face recognition.
In addition,
850 medical colleges and institutions under the National Medical Commission (NMC) use it for attendance marking.
Central recruitment agencies like the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) use it for candidate verification during recruitment processes.
When all authentication modalities (including biometrics, OTP, and face authentication) are considered, Aadhaar recorded 221 crore transactions in July 2025—marking a 3.8% year-on-year growth.
The Aadhaar e-KYC system, which simplifies customer verification in sectors like banking and financial services, processed 39.56 crore transactions in the same month, reducing paperwork and improving efficiency.
According to UIDAI, the surge in face authentication transactions underscores Aadhaar’s expanding role as,
