AadiMahotsav – National Tribal Festival Concludes

The annual “Aadi Mahotsav – National Tribal Festival,” inaugurated by Hon’ble President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, concluded on 18th February 2024. Held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi, from February 10 to February 18, the 9-day festival organized by TRIFED (Tribal Co-operative Marketing Federation of India) showcased a vibrant tapestry of Tribal Entrepreneurship, Crafts, Culture, Cuisine, and Commerce.

Empowering Tribal Entrepreneurs: Launch of Venture Capital Fund

  • The launch of the Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Tribes aimed at fostering startup culture and economic innovation among tribal entrepreneurs.
  • A commitment to nurturing indigenous talent and fostering economic growth within tribal communities.

Fostering Collaboration: B2B Workshop

  • Inaugural B2B workshop attracted representatives from prominent industry bodies, including CII, ASSOCHAM, IFCA, and more than 35 industry leaders and startups.
  • Facilitated collaborations and market linkages across various segments, opening new avenues for tribal entrepreneurs.

Government and Corporate Partnerships

  • Signing of MoU between TRIFED and ITC exemplifies successful corporate engagement in tribal empowerment.
  • Convergence with various government departments and organizations enriched the experience for participants, covering areas such as finance, healthcare, skill development, and entrepreneurship.

Cultural Showcase: Artistic Brilliance of Tribal Communities

  • Approximately 1100 tribal artisans, artists, healers, chefs, and cultural troupes from 27 States and Union Territories showcased their work.
  • From handicrafts and handloom textiles to paintings and jewelry, each masterpiece showcased exceptional craftsmanship and untold stories woven into tribal culture.

PM JAN MAN Pavilion and Van Dhan Products

  • Highlighted the unique cultural heritage of 21 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups.
  • Provided a platform for sustainable livelihoods and entrepreneurship among tribal communities through the Van Dhan products pavilion.

Cultural Extravaganza and Evening Performances

  • More than 400 tribal artists presented captivating rituals, harvest festivals, and unique traditions rooted in tribal culture.
  • Added vibrancy to the event, celebrating the diversity and richness of India’s tribal landscape.

Digital Transformation and Business Expansion

  • Generated cash sales of over Rs 1.80 crores and onboarded 170 tribal artisans onto the ONDC network for the first time.
  • Training sessions on social media platforms and workshops on product design aimed to enhance the digital presence and marketability of tribal products.

Government Support and Holistic Development

  • Various government ministries and organizations collaborated to provide comprehensive support to tribal artisans and entrepreneurs.
  • Workshops, on-spot services, and schemes aimed at finance, healthcare, skill development, postal services, and entrepreneurship underscored the event’s commitment to holistic socio-economic development and empowerment of tribal communities.
