AICF Launches Monthly Stipend Scheme to Boost Young Chess Talent

In a landmark move to support the growth of chess at the grassroots level, the All India Chess Federation (AICF) has launched the Top National Players Stipend Scheme (TNPSS). This scheme, unveiled on June 25, 2025, aims to provide direct financial assistance to promising young chess players across India, covering categories from Under-7 to Under-19. By offering quarterly stipends ranging from ₹60,000 to ₹1.5 lakh, the initiative is designed to not only identify talent early but also help them develop into future champions. The move reflects AICF’s strategic intent to strengthen the national chess ecosystem.

Why in News?

The Top National Players Stipend Scheme was officially launched by the AICF on June 25, 2025, and the first quarterly disbursement of ₹42.30 lakh has already been credited directly to the bank accounts of 78 young players (39 boys and 39 girls).
