Akashvani, India’s national public radio broadcaster, organized a special event on 28th August in New Delhi as part of the Know India Programme (KIP), an initiative under the aegis of Ministry of External Affairs. The event witnessed the participation of around 55 students of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) who had gathered from various corners of the world.
The event organized on 28th August in New Delhi marks the 67th edition of the Know India Programme (KIP), an evident to the sustained commitment of the Ministry of External Affairs to connect with the Indian diaspora youth.
Chandranie Sukhdeo, a student hailing from Guyana, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the Indian Government’s initiative, which has bestowed upon her the wonderful opportunity to explore the land of her ancestors. She shared her excitement about the chance to visit India’s historical landmarks and experience the country’s vibrant cultural heritage firsthand.
Shivani Jhagroe, another participant from Suriname, described India as a second home and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to delve deeper into the heart of her ancestral land.
The event also featured a quiz session that engaged the participants in a spirited exploration of G20 dynamics and Indian history. The students’ enthusiasm reflected their eagerness to learn and connect with India on a deeper level.
Know India Programme, launched on 8th January 2014, is a government initiative by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India for the Indian diaspora between the age group of 18 to 30 years. The purpose of Know India Programme is to help Persons of Indian Origin youths familiarize with their roots and contemporary India and provide them exposure to the country of their origin.
