Akhil Sheoran Secures Bronze at ISSF World Cup Final in New Delhi

India’s Akhil Sheoran clinched the bronze medal in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions event at the ISSF World Cup Final in New Delhi. In a high-pressure moment, Sheoran displayed remarkable composure and precision, making a decisive shot in the final round to finish third with a score of 452.6.

Bronze Medal Victory

  • Akhil Sheoran won the bronze medal at the ISSF World Cup Final in New Delhi, finishing with a score of 452.6.
  • The gold medal was secured by Hungary’s Istvan Peni with 465.3, while Jiri Privratsky from the Czech Republic claimed silver with 464.2.

Clutch Shot Under Pressure

  • In the 41st shot of the final, Sheoran delivered a score of 10.7, the best of the round, propelling him from fourth place to third.
  • He displayed a calm and calculated approach, taking around 30 seconds for each shot.

Comeback After Injury

  • Earlier this year, Sheoran’s preparation was disrupted by an accident, resulting in a chip fracture in his arm.
  • Despite the setback, he recovered to win a medal and is now setting his sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

  • Sheoran had a strong start to the year with a bronze at the Cairo World Cup and a gold at the Asian Championships in Jakarta.

  • On the women’s side, India’s Rhythm Sangwan narrowly missed out on a medal in the 25m pistol final, finishing fourth after losing a shoot-off for bronze.
