Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth Takes Over as Vice Chief Amid Army Modernization Push

Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth has officially taken the charge as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff. This experienced veteran had a long and the distinguished career within the service for nearly four decades. He took the charge when the Indian Army is focusing on the modernization and preparedness for the future need. His vast experience in the operations, planning and the command positions expected to strengthen the army at high level.

Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth has assumed the of the most important position in the Indian Army.

He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and he was commissioned into the Armored Corps in the December 1986.

Since the joining he had developed the strong image for the handling complex military operations and the strategic responsibilities.

His appointment showcasing the Army’s focus on the experienced leadership which is capable of managing both the operational challenges and long-term planning.

Extensive Command Experience Across Critical Regions

Lt Gen career has stands out for the wide-ranging command roles which he performed across the diverse terrains.

He commanded the Armored Regiment in desert condition and showcased the expertise in mechanized warfare.

Also led an Armoured Brigade in the developed sectors and handled the operational capabilities.

And headed the Counter Insurgency Force in the Jammu & Kashmir and gained the experience for the Internal Security.

Importantly at higher levels he commanded the Sudarshan Chakra Corps and also later served as the General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area.

Key Strategic Roles and Global Exposure

Lt Gen Seth had also held the several important staff and international assignments apart from the his field commands.

He also served as the Brigade Major in Jammu & Kashmir and worked as an Operations Officer with the United Nations (UN) mission in Angola.

Lt Gen tenure at Army Headquarters also included the roles such as the Assistant Military Secretary and Director General (Discipline, Ceremonial and Welfare).

Strong Academic and Professional Background

Lt Gen Seth has also consistently mastered in military education and training.

He secured the top positions in several key courses which are including the standing first in the Junior Command Course.

He was also awarded with the Best All Round Student Officer Medal at the Defense Services Staff College.

His training was part of the prestigious courses like Higher Command Course, National Defense College and the international course in Paris and which showcasing his global exposure and strategic insight.
