Senior IPS officers Alok Ranjan and Amit Garg have been appointed as the heads of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), respectively. Alok Ranjan, a 1991-batch officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, will serve as the Director of NCRB until his superannuation on June 30, 2026, succeeding Vivek Gogia, who has been repatriated to the AGMUT cadre. Amit Garg, a 1993-batch IPS officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre, will lead the SVPNPA until his retirement on October 31, 2027.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has also approved several other appointments among senior IPS officers. Four 1993-batch officers—Rithwik Rudra (Himachal Pradesh cadre), Mahesh Dixit (Andhra Pradesh cadre), Praveen Kumar (West Bengal cadre), and Arvind Kumar (Bihar cadre)—have been named Special Directors in the Intelligence Bureau (IB), having previously served as Additional Directors.
Praveer Ranjan, also a 1993-batch IPS officer from the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as Special Director General in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for a two-year tenure. Additionally, Vitul Kumar has been appointed as Special DG in the CRPF until August 31, 2028, while R Prasad Meena will serve as Special DG in the Border Security Force (BSF) until July 31, 2025.
