Amit Mishra Retires After 25 Years in Professional Cricket (1)
After an incredible 25-year journey in professional cricket, Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra has officially announced his retirement at the age of 42. Known for his traditional leg-spin technique and match-winning spells, Mishra has been a consistent performer in both international cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL). His decision comes after more than 16 months away from competitive cricket, marking the end of one of Indian cricket’s longest-serving bowling careers.
Mishra made his Test debut in 2008 during Anil Kumble’s farewell series against Australia, where he impressed immediately with a five-wicket haul in Mohali. However, competition from established spinners like Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Ashwin, and Jadeja limited his international appearances.
His style was based on classical leg-spin with flight, turn, and occasional googlies, which worked best on spin-friendly pitches in the subcontinent.
Outside the spotlight of international and IPL cricket, Mishra was a mainstay in Haryana’s domestic team,
