Appointment of Rakesh Ranjan as Chairman, Staff Selection Commission (SSC)
Rakesh Ranjan, a 1992 batch IAS officer from Manipur Cadre, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). This appointment comes following a notification issued by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet.
Ranjan will serve in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India, with the post of Chairman, SSC, being temporarily upgraded. The Recruitment Rules (RR) of the post have been put on hold.
The Appointment committee of Cabinet has officially approved the appointment of Rakesh Ranjan, lAS (MN:92), who was serving as the Special Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, to the position of Chairman, Staff Selection Commission.
