Asia Cup 2022: Afghanistan won by 8 wickets from Sri Lanka in the First Match of Asia Cup

Asia Cup 2022 Match 01: Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan

The first match of the Asia Cup is between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan on 27th August 2022. The match is being played in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bowl first. Sri Lanka’s opening players are Danush Gunathilaka and Pathum Nissanka. In the first over, Afghanistan’s ace bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi came to bowl. Sri Lanka was pressurized with the fresh bowlers of Afghanistan and scored 105 all out after 19.4 overs.

Fazalhaq Farooqi showed extremely impressive performance by taking 3 wickets in 3.4 overs by giving only 11 runs to Sri Lanka. Other bowlers that left Sri Lanka clean bowled are Naveen ul-Haq taking 1 wicket, Mujeeb Ur Rahman 2 wickets, and Mohammad Nabi took 2 wickets. Sri Lankan openers Pathum Nissanka scored 3 runs with 7 balls and Danushka Gunathilaka scored 17 on 17 balls. The highest runs were scored by Bhanuka Rajapaksa, 38 with 29 balls, and Chamika Karunaratne, 31 with 38 balls.

Afghanistan Won the First Match of the Asia Cup 2022

Afghanistan won the first match of Asia Cup 2022 by 8 wickets against Sri Lanka. The first innings were a hit for Afghanistan, as they left the Sri Lankan team clean bowled om 105. Afghanistan had to chase only 106 runs in 20 overs. Afghanistan lost 2 wickets, however, won the match in 10.1 over. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai gave their best performance and starred in their Asia Cup Cricket Tournament journey with a tremendous win. The opening players were Ibrahim Zardan and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Only two wickets were gone one was Ibrahim Zardan and Hazratullah Zazai both were taken by Mahesh Theekshana.

Fazalhaq Farooqi from Afghanistan is the Man of the Match for the first match of Asia Cup 2022. Farooqi showed tremendous performance in today’s match by taking 3 wickets by giving only 11 runs in his 3.4 overs spell including 17 dot balls with one maiden over. Fazalhaq Farooqi is a left-arm medium-fast bowler.
