Axelsen and An Se-young Triumph at India Open 2025
Viktor Axelsen and An Se-young clinched the men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively, at the India Open Super 750 badminton tournament in New Delhi. Axelsen secured his third India Open title by defeating Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu in straight games, 21-16, 21-8, in just 41 minutes. Viktor Axelsen, a two-time world champion and previous India Open winner in 2017 and 2019, displayed exceptional skill and athleticism. After a slow start, Axelsen found his rhythm, taking control of the match and securing a comfortable victory over Lee Cheuk Yiu. This win marked his third India Open title and highlighted his return to peak form after overcoming recent injury challenges.
South Korea’s An Se-young continued her impressive form by defeating Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong in straight games. Her victory at the India Open adds to her growing list of achievements and underscores her status as a rising star in international badminton.
In the men’s doubles final, Malaysia’s Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin clinched the title by defeating the Korean duo of Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae. The women’s doubles event saw Japan’s Arisa Igarashi and Ayako Sakuramoto emerge victorious over South Korea’s Kim Hye Jang and Kong Hee Young. In mixed doubles, China’s Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin secured the championship by overcoming the French pair of Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue.
