Apart from Sikhs, Baisakhi is also celebrated by Hindus and other communities in India. People dress up in traditional attire, perform folk dances, and sing songs to celebrate the harvest season. In some parts of the country, people also take a dip in the holy river Ganges to wash away their sins. Food is an important part of the celebrations, with traditional dishes in Baisakhi. The festival is also an occasion for people to come together, forget their differences, and celebrate the spirit of unity and brotherhood.
The Sikh community holds great significance to the day of Baisakhi, as it commemorates the establishment of the Khalsa Panth by their tenth guru, Guru Gobind Singh in March 1699. Baisakhi is celebrated on April 14 and according to Drik Panchang, the Baisakhi Sankranti moment will be at 3:12 PM. Although there are no bank and market holidays on April 14, 2023, the stock markets will remain closed due to the observance of Ambedkar Jayanti.
