Birute Galdikas Dies at 79: Legendary Orangutan Researcher Passes Away

Renowned primatologist Birute Galdikas was passed away at the age of 79 on March 25, 2026 in Los Angeles after battling lung cancer. She was one of the world’s leading experts on orangutans. As she spent more than five decades to studying and protecting them in the forests of Borneo. As the last surviving member of the legendary ‘Trimates’ she left behind a powerful legacy to protect the endangered wildlife.
