BRO Builds World’s Highest Road at 19,400 ft
In an extraordinary engineering milestone, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has constructed the world’s highest motorable road at a staggering 19,400 feet above sea level in Ladakh, breaking its own previous world record. Built under Project Himank, this road passes through Mig La Pass, surpassing the earlier record set at Umling La (19,024 ft) in 2021.
The Mig La Pass lies in the southern sector of eastern Ladakh, close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The new road adds a third critical axis to reach Fukche, a forward area near the Indo-China border.
