C-DOT Wins 3 Awards For Telecom Innovations At 14th Aegis Graham Bell

Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier Telecom R&D centre of the Government of India, has achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the top position in three categories at the esteemed 14th Annual Aegis Graham Bell Awards. The event, held on February 21, 2024, at the NDMC Convention Centre, New Delhi, witnessed C-DOT’s groundbreaking innovations being recognized and celebrated.

1. Innovation in AI: ASTR Project

  • The first award, jointly shared with Google India, was conferred upon C-DOT for its pioneering ASTR Project under the category “Innovation in AI.”
  • ASTR (AI & Facial Recognition-powered Solution for Telecom SIM Subscriber Verification) stands as a beacon in the fight against cyber crimes.
  • This innovative solution is designed to analyze, identify, and eliminate fake/forged mobile connections, marking a significant stride towards ensuring a secure telecom environment.

2. Innovation in Social Good: CEIR Solution

  • C-DOT secured the second award in the category “Innovation in Social Good” for its groundbreaking CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) solution.
  • CEIR has revolutionized mobile security by detecting clone IMEIs, restricting the import of counterfeit mobile devices, and facilitating the blocking and tracing of lost or stolen phones.
  • This solution underscores C-DOT’s commitment to leveraging technology for the betterment of society.

3. Innovation in Telecom: Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) Product

  • The third accolade was bestowed upon C-DOT in the category “Innovation in Telecom” for its Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) product.
  • India’s pioneering use of quantum mechanics in creating an unbreakable cryptographic protocol, even in the face of Quantum computers, has set a new standard for secure communication between networks and parties.
  • This revolutionary solution ensures unparalleled security, marking a significant advancement in the field of telecommunications.

Leadership Presence at the Awards Ceremony

Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, Executive Director and Chairman of the C-DOT Project Board, along with Dr. Pankaj Dalela, Director, and Ms. Shikha Srivastava, Director, attended the award ceremony, signifying C-DOT’s excellence and its pivotal role in telecom innovation emphasized by the triple win at the Aegis Graham Bell Awards.
