CAIT and Meta expand ‘WhatsApp Se Wyapaar’ partnership

Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Meta, the parent company of Facebook, have announced the expansion of their ‘WhatsApp Se Wyapaar’ program. The initiative aims to digitally train and upskill 10 million local traders using the WhatsApp Business App, with the goal of empowering small enterprises across India. This collaboration comes as a continuation of Meta’s commitment to upskill one million traders on the WhatsApp Business App, as announced in June.

Localized Digitalization in 11 Indian Languages

  • The partnership’s primary objective is to localize digitalization activities in 11 Indian languages, covering all 29 Indian states.
  • Through a series of workshops, CAIT will provide comprehensive digital and skill training to equip businesses with the necessary knowledge to digitize their storefronts and establish their ‘digital dukaan’ on the WhatsApp Business App.
  • Traders will be educated on various tools and features available on the app, including Catalogue, Quick Replies, and Click to WhatsApp Ads, to enhance their online presence and reach a wider customer base.

Enabling Growth for Small Businesses

  • Praveen Khandelwal, the National Secretary General of CAIT, expressed that technology can be a significant enabler for growth in rapidly evolving business scenarios.
  • The partnership aims to help traders across India learn newer ways of expanding their businesses by upskilling themselves with the right tools.
  • Through this initiative, traders and businesses can create a more comprehensive customer base, scale their operations, and contribute significantly to India’s growing digital economy.

Digital Skilling Mission for Trading Community

  • The collaboration will further CAIT’s digital skilling mission for the trading community, providing access to the Meta Small Business Academy for 25,000 traders.
  • The course module and examination will be offered in seven languages, namely English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu.
  • This multilingual approach ensures that the program reaches Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across India, empowering new entrepreneurs and marketers with crucial digital marketing abilities to thrive on the Meta apps.

Embracing India’s Digital Revolution

  • Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs at Meta, acknowledged India’s digital revolution and the remarkable embrace of technologies like WhatsApp by Indian entrepreneurs and small businesses.
  • The partnership with CAIT is aligned with Meta’s mission to support entrepreneurs and small businesses in leveraging opportunities and playing a crucial role in India’s tech-driven growth.
