Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi Inaugurates New North Jetty at Naval Base
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi inaugurated the new North Jetty at the Naval Base in Kochi on March 27, 2025. The jetty is designed to enhance berthing capacity and support services for naval ships and auxiliary vessels, strengthening India’s maritime capability and operational efficiency.
The newly inaugurated North Jetty is an important infrastructure addition to the Southern Naval Command. Extending 300 metres in length and 18 metres in width, it is capable of accommodating various classes of naval ships, improving the berthing and logistical operations at the Kochi Naval Base.
According to an official release, the jetty will provide the Indian Navy with enhanced operational flexibility, allowing for efficient turnaround of major naval combatants and ensuring better maritime security operations in the southern peninsula.
The project was executed by the Cochin Port Authority and awarded to Afcons Infrastructure Limited, a leading infrastructure development company in India. The development of the North Jetty marks a significant milestone in strengthening the naval base at Kochi and enhancing logistical support for the Indian Navy.
