Clutch, Maple & Zayu Unveiled as FIFA 2026 Mascots

FIFA has officially unveiled the mascots for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, introducing Clutch the Bald Eagle, Maple the Moose, and Zayu the Jaguar as the animated ambassadors for the tournament. These mascots represent the three co-host nations—the United States, Canada, and Mexico, respectively—and aim to embody the spirit of unity, joy, and global celebration that defines the World Cup. The announcement, made on September 25, 2025, is part of the lead-up to what will be the biggest FIFA World Cup yet, with the tournament expanding to 48 teams and featuring 104 matches across North America.

Meet the Mascots

Clutch the Bald Eagle – United States

  • Clutch symbolizes courage, curiosity, and inclusivity, soaring above the diverse cultural landscape of the United States. As a midfielder, Clutch “knits the team together,” representing harmony and tactical brilliance.

Maple the Moose – Canada

  • Maple roams freely across Canada’s vast territories, embracing its cultural mosaic and natural beauty. She plays the role of goalkeeper, a guardian who reflects Canada’s welcoming spirit and strength.

Zayu the Jaguar – Mexico

  • Zayu comes from the jungles of southern Mexico, embodying the nation’s ancient heritage and vibrant traditions. Known as a creative and agile striker, Zayu is a cultural icon representing passion and rhythm—on and off the pitch.
  • Together, the trio mirrors the core values of diversity, unity, and love for football, making them relatable figures for fans across the globe.

More Than Just Mascots

  • According to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the mascots are “full of joy, energy, and the spirit of togetherness—just like the World Cup itself.” They are not only cultural symbols but are also animated footballers with distinct personalities and positions on the field.
  • This is also the first time FIFA has introduced multiple mascots for a senior men’s World Cup, aligning with the multi-nation hosting format and the tournament’s expansion.
