Bihar is a state in eastern India. It is the third most populated state and the 12th largest by area. The river Ganges divides Bihar from west to east. Gaya is the coldest place in Bihar, experiencing very low temperatures in winter. The temperature can drop to 4ºC or even lower, making it the coldest district in the state. People face extreme cold, especially during December and January. Fog and chilly winds make like difficult, but occasional sunlight provides some relief during the day.
On a winter day, Gaya recorded a minimum temperature of 4.6ºC, which was 4ºC lower than normal. The maximum temperature during the day was 19.6ºC. This made Gaya the coldest place in Bihar on that day.
