Cyclone Ditwah Nears Tamil Nadu Coast
Cyclone Ditwah, a cyclonic storm forming over the southwest Bay of Bengal, is tracking northwest and expected to reach the coastal regions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and southern Andhra Pradesh by November 30, 2025, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). With the system intensifying, the IMD has issued alerts for several regions along India’s southeast coast, cautioning residents and activating emergency protocols.
This marks the third post-monsoon cyclonic storm in the North Indian Ocean basin this year, highlighting increasing storm activity and the need for heightened disaster preparedness in coastal states.
As of the latest update, Cyclone Ditwah was positioned near Pottuvil, approximately 700 km southeast of Chennai. It is expected to move northwestward and impact northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the southern Andhra coast by November 30. The system intensified from a deep depression into a cyclonic storm at 11:30 am on November 27.
