According to the 2011 Census, Uttar Pradesh had an overall literacy rate of 67.68%. The literacy rate for men was 77.3%, while for women it was 57.2%. Over the past few years, there has been an increase in literacy rates across the state.

Gautam Buddh Nagar is the district in Uttar Pradesh with the highest literacy rate among men. This district is considered one of the most modern in Uttar Pradesh and is part of the Delhi-NCR region. Gautam Buddh Nagar, also known as the Electronic City, was established on September 6, 1957. It is a significant area for employment, attracting thousands of people daily for work.
