DPIIT and Govt of Gujarat launched ‘One District One Product’ wall

In a significant collaborative effort, the One District One Product (ODOP) program, a joint initiative by the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has launched its inaugural collaboration with the Government of Gujarat in New Delhi, aiming to promote the indigenous crafts and artisans of the State.

  • ODOP and the Government of Gujarat have joined forces to introduce product tagging and story cards, elevating the promotion and recognition of Gujarat’s distinct products.
  • This partnership is geared towards directing consumers to emporia, thereby bolstering sales and raising the profile of Gujarat’s products on a national scale.
  • Additionally, Garvi Gujarat Bhawan has integrated ODOP products into its interiors, providing a remarkable platform to showcase Gujarat’s handicrafts.

ODOP: Boosting Market Presence of Specific Products

  • In Gujarat, ODOP interventions have been purposefully directed at specific products to enhance their market presence.
  • Notably, Sujani Handloom, Jamnagari Bandhini, and Patan Patola have undergone Government e-Marketplace (GeM) onboarding drives.
  • Additionally, the Agate Stone in Khambat district and Sujani in Bharuch district have received invaluable support through workshops conducted by the National Institute of Design.

About One District One Product Initiative

  • The initiative has identified a total of 1102 products from 761 districts nationwide. One District One Product’ program was first started in Uttar Pradesh on January 24, 2018.
