DRDO Achieves Major Hypersonic Tech Milestone with Scramjet Combustor Test
In a major stride toward developing hypersonic weapons, the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), a unit under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), successfully conducted a long-duration ground test of an Active Cooled Scramjet Subscale Combustor on April 25, 2025. The test, which lasted over 1,000 seconds, took place at the newly established Scramjet Connect Test Facility in Hyderabad. This milestone marks significant progress in India’s hypersonic cruise missile development programme and showcases growing indigenous capabilities in air-breathing propulsion technologies.
