e-NAM Adds 9 New Commodities, Expands Coverage to 247

National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform by adding 9 new agricultural commodities, raising the total number of tradable items to 247. This move aims to strengthen India’s largest digital agri-trade platform, enhancing market access, ensuring quality-based pricing, and reducing dependency on middlemen. The announcement was made on October 8, 2025, by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, further underlining the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for inclusive and transparent agricultural trade.

What is e-NAM?

Launched in 2016, e-NAM (National Agriculture Market) is an online trading platform for agricultural commodities. It connects existing mandis (markets) across states, enabling farmers, traders, and buyers to trade agricultural produce digitally and transparently.

The platform is designed to,

  • Reduce the role of intermediaries
  • Enable quality-based pricing
  • Increase market access for farmers
  • Create a unified national market for agriculture

New Commodities Added in October 2025

As per the latest expansion, the following 9 commodities have been added to the e-NAM platform,

  1. Green Tea
  2. Tea
  3. Aswagandha Dry Roots
  4. Mustard Oil
  5. Lavender Oil
  6. Mentha Oil
  7. Virgin Olive Oil
  8. Lavender Dried Flower
  9. Broken Rice

With these additions, the total count of tradable commodities rises to 247, reflecting the platform’s growing reach and utility.

Role of DMI and Quality Parameters

  • The Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI), under the Ministry of Agriculture, has framed tradable parameters for these new commodities.
  • These parameters define standardized quality grades, enabling pricing to be linked directly with product quality.

The process involved,

  • Consultations with state agencies, traders, and subject experts
  • Oversight from the Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC)
  • Approval from Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan

The availability of these standardized parameters on the e-NAM portal (enam.gov.in) ensures a quality-driven and fair pricing model across the platform.
