e-Shram Portal Expands to 22 Scheduled Languages

The e-Shram portal, designed to provide unorganised workers with seamless access to various government schemes, has been upgraded to support all 22 scheduled languages. This enhancement, launched by Union Minister of Labour and Employment Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, aims to make the portal more accessible to workers across India.

Multilingual Upgrade

Previously, the e-Shram portal was available only in English, Hindi, Kannada, and Marathi. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s Bhashini project facilitated this expansion to include all 22 scheduled languages, ensuring that workers can access information and register in their native languages.

Increased Registrations

Since its inception, the e-Shram portal has seen significant engagement, with an average of over 30,000 registrations per day by unorganised workers. This reflects the growing trust in the platform and its importance in providing access to welfare schemes.

Integration of Welfare Schemes

To date, twelve government schemes have been integrated with the e-Shram portal, including One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC), Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS), Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS), National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS), and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). This integration facilitates unorganised workers’ access to a broad spectrum of social security initiatives.

Future Initiatives

The Ministry of Labour and Employment plans to further enhance the user experience by launching an e-Shram mobile application, introducing a Single Common Application Form for easier access, and integrating payment gateways to simplify the process of availing social protection benefits. Additionally, the engagement of mediators such as Common Service Centres, bank correspondents, post offices, and MY Bharat volunteers is being explored to extend the portal’s outreach.
