Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to Visit India from August 24–26 to Deepen Bilateral Ties

In a key diplomatic engagement, Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka will undertake an official visit to India from August 24 to 26, 2025. The visit, announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), is expected to enhance India-Fiji bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors including governance, development, and cultural exchange.

Key Highlights of the Visit

High-Level Bilateral Talks

On August 25, Prime Minister Rabuka will hold formal discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The meeting is likely to focus on strengthening collaboration in areas such as,

  • Health and human resource development
  • Climate change and ocean governance
  • Defence and security cooperation
  • Digital infrastructure and capacity building

Prime Minister Modi will also host a lunch in honour of the visiting dignitary, underlining the significance of the partnership between the two countries.

Meeting with the President

During his stay, PM Rabuka will also call on President Droupadi Murmu, reinforcing the symbolic and strategic importance of the India-Fiji relationship at the highest levels.

Public Engagement: ‘Ocean of Peace’ Lecture

As part of his itinerary, PM Rabuka will deliver a lecture titled ‘Ocean of Peace’ at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) in New Delhi. The lecture is expected to reflect on,

  • Fiji’s role in regional stability in the Indo-Pacific
  • Maritime security and peaceful ocean governance
  • The cultural and historical people-to-people ties between India and Pacific island nations
