Lakshman Narayan Sharma was born in the early 1900s in Akbarpur, a village located in the Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh, India. He was born into a prosperous Brahmin family. At the age of 11, his parents arranged his marriage, but he chose a different path and decided to become a wandering sadhu (ascetic). Neem Karoli Baba passed away around 1:15 AM on September 11, 1973, in a hospital located in Vrindavan, India. His demise occurred after he fell into a diabetic coma. Prior to his passing, he had been traveling by night train from Agra to Kainchi near Nainital. During the journey, he experienced chest pains and visited a heart specialist in Agra. However, upon arriving at the Mathura railway station, he began to convulse and requested to be taken to Shri Dham Vrindavan. It was at the hospital in Vrindavan where he eventually left his mortal body.
