Goa to Host Historic 10th Ayurveda Day with Global Outreach
India’s traditional system of medicine, Ayurveda, is set to gain unprecedented global attention as the 10th Ayurveda Day will be celebrated on 23rd September 2025 at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa. Themed “Ayurveda for People & Planet”, the celebration reflects the growing recognition of Ayurveda as both a healthcare solution and a sustainable practice aligned with modern environmental needs.
For the first time, Ayurveda Day will be observed on a fixed calendar date, departing from the earlier practice of celebrating it on Dhanvantari Jayanti. This move signifies an effort to bring consistency and greater visibility to Ayurveda on the international stage.
Announcing the event at Mount Abu, Union Minister Shri Prataprao Jadhav described Goa as the “perfect global stage for Ayurveda Day.” Known for its international appeal, wellness tourism, and cultural diversity, Goa offers a unique setting to showcase Ayurveda to a wider global audience.
The selection of AIIA Goa—a state-of-the-art institute under the Ministry of Ayush—highlights India’s commitment to building world-class infrastructure in traditional medicine and fostering international collaborations in holistic health systems.

This theme aligns Ayurveda with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), making it a relevant and modern healthcare model that addresses both human well-being and environmental sustainability.

This reflects India’s growing “health diplomacy”, where Ayurveda becomes not just a cultural export but also a tool for building global partnerships in wellness and sustainable healthcare.
The 10th Ayurveda Day is more than a symbolic event—it represents a historic milestone in positioning Ayurveda as a global solution to modern healthcare challenges. With increasing lifestyle diseases, climate change, and the rising demand for sustainable healthcare models, Ayurveda’s principles of balance, prevention, and harmony with nature resonate strongly worldwide.
Moreover, the fixed date of 23rd September will provide Ayurveda with a global identity similar to Yoga Day, enhancing international recognition and annual participation.
