Government Launches NAVYA to Skill Adolescent Girls in Non-Traditional Sectors
In a landmark initiative aligned with the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, the Government of India is set to launch NAVYA (Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls) on 24th June 2025 in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh. The programme, jointly initiated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), aims to empower adolescent girls aged 16–18 years with vocational skills, especially in non-traditional sectors.
The NAVYA initiative is being launched as a joint pilot programme to equip young girls with vocational training, particularly in aspirational districts and the North-East, reflecting the government’s inclusive approach. This is a significant step under the broader women-led development agenda of the Viksit Bharat@2047 mission.
