Governor R.N. Ravi Inaugurates Param Vir Chakra Garden
Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi inaugurated the Param Vir Chakra garden and Aikyam exhibition at the Kanchi Mahaswami Vidya Mandir in Tambaram. Ravi was accompanied by Lt. Gen. Karanbir Singh Brar, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), General Officer Commanding (Dakshin Bharat area), and V.Shankar, chairman of the Sri Kanchi Mahaswami Trust.
The garden showcases the history and statues of the 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees, India’s highest military decoration for valor. The unveiling took place in the presence of Sub Major and Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav, PVC, Sub Major Sanjay Kumar, PVC, relatives of late Major R.Parameswaran, PVC, and several personnel of the Armed Forces.
Lt. Gen. Karanbir Singh Brar praised the initiative, stating that such honor has not been accorded by any non-Army institute or organization before. He emphasized the need to highlight the services of the Indian Armed Forces, stating, “Wherever it [a situation] is most challenging, Indian troops are deployed. Western countries don’t send their troops.”
Later in the day, the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham pontiff Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi viewed the spaces, adding a spiritual dimension to the event. The Param Vir Chakra garden serves as a tribute to the courageous heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, ensuring their valor is remembered and celebrated.
