Gujarat Achieves 1,879 MW Rooftop Solar Capacity, Leading India
Gujarat has once again strengthened its position as India’s leading state in rooftop solar energy. With an installed capacity of 1,879 MW and over 5 lakh rooftop solar systems the state has achieved 50% of its ambitious target of installing 1 million residential systems by March 2027. This progress has been achieved mainly under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, aimed at providing affordable clean energy to households.
Gujarat has installed more than 1.1 million rooftop solar systems over the years across various schemes. Under the PM Surya Ghar scheme alone, the state accounts for over 5 lakh residential installations, keeping it well ahead of other states in residential solar adoption.
