75th Independence Day: Govt to start nationwide campaign ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’

In order to encourage citizens to raise the national flag at their residences in observance of the nation’s 75th Independence Day, the Central government will soon launch the nationwide campaign Har Ghar Tiranga. The initiative was launched under the auspices of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, whose nodal ministry is the Ministry of Culture. The Indian National Flag is a source of great pride for the entire country, and in order to further honour the flag, the programme known as Har Ghar Tiranga has been approved by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is in charge of all initiatives under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Flag Code of India, 2002:

  • The Indian Flag Code became operative on January 26, 2002.
  • The Flag Code regulates the display of the National Flag by Private, Public, and Government Institutions, compiles all laws, customs, practises, and guidelines for doing so.
  • The Flag Code of India, 2002 was revised in December of last year, allowing the use of machine-made or polyester national flags. The National Flag will now be made of cotton, polyester, wool, silk, and khadi bunting that has been hand-spun and hand-woven or manufactured.
  • The national flag must be rectangular in shape and may be any size, but it must have a length to width ratio of 3:2. There shall be no restriction on the display of the National Flag by members of the general public, private organisations, or educational institutions that is inconsistent with the dignity and honour of the National Flag, according to Clause of the Flag Code of India.
